I'm Kristen, a Senior Product Designer based in California. I grew up here, spent time living abroad, and came back with a broader sense of how people navigate the world. Which, it turns out, is useful when you design for them.
I came from a healthcare background and wanted to build products for the field. UX found me somewhere in that process, and it stuck. Four years at Talkiatry later, I've spent most of my career designing complex systems for clinicians and patients, work that requires as much empathy as it does craft.
When I'm not designing, I'm usually making something with my hands: Small trinkets, crochet vegetables, beadwork. I also love paddleboarding and being in the water.
I think good design and good craft are the same thing. You start with a problem, you work with what you have, and you make something that didn't exist before.
